Bamboo Panflutes, flamed bamboo
(For an enlarged view of the pictures please click on the small pictures.) |
Here you find illustrations of different Ulitza bamboo panflutes in standard sizes. The flutes are
made of "yellow Chinese bamboo", the socket of different types of wood. The bamboo is flamed in
a special process, which gives the tubes even more density and the sound more overtone wealth.

Reissued old design:
(For an enlarged view of the pictures please click on the small pictures.) |
Following a dear customer from Taiwan had seen an old picture on the Internet of an Ulitza panflute
with a special painting of the socket, he was so in love with this design that he persuaded me to
make two flutes in the old style. I took this as an opportunity to officially include this variant in the
panflute program again. The socket is made of painted maple and the base of mahogany, see
pictures of the first two flutes with this socket! No extra costs for this version!

NEW:
Moso- and Tonking-Bamoo stained:

I
have these flutes new in my range! The price would
be €50.00 more expensive than the corresponding
unflamed bamboo pan flute. Tonking bamboo has
long been one of the most important types of bamboo
in pan flute making. It is almost always circular
in cross-section, slightly conical, and is characterized
by particularly wide node spacing. With the right
choice of tubes and intelligent processing, excellent
pan flutes can be made from it. Here are the first
examples:

Types of wood for the socket:
(For an enlarged view of the pictures please click on the small pictures.) |
For the socket of a flute, I like to use two different types of wood, which show a clear difference in
color. This creates, as you can see above, a beautiful wooden stripe through the double base. Here
you can take a closer look at my usual wood selections. In general, I think that with light flutes a
dark socket, and with dark flutes (flamed bamboo) a light socket are particularly suitable. If you
want a different and maybe special type of wood, I will gladly try to get them because I have an
excellent wood dealer close by.
